Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal admits there is a chance he could become Tottenham's new manager but insists he would not take up the post until after the World Cup next summer.

Tim Sherwood has been given control of first-team affairs in the interim and again reiterated his desire for the full-time position after the club's 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal is 4/1 with BetVictor to be the next permanent Spurs bossVan Gaal, who has managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich, is currently tied to the Dutch national team until next July and rejected the idea of taking control of both teams simultaneously.

"I've always said I want to work in the Premier League eventually, so there's a chance. There are times a deal is announced and there are times it's in preparation. At that time there's no time for media.

"I’ve read also in the English media that Frank de Boer and Guus Hiddink are in the picture. All the agents do that. They think that's interesting. You never know if it's really like that."

Ajax head coach Frank De Boer recently described speculation linking him with the White Hart Lane vacancy as flattering but insisted he would like to remain with the Eredivisie champions.

Meanwhile, former manager Glenn Hoddle has made public his desire to return to Tottenham, even if it is a short-term appointment
