#InTheNews:Ak-47 Rifle Inventor, Kalashinov dies at 94
The son of siberian peasants who never finished school, Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashinov (hmmmmn, what a mouthful), the inventor of the Ak-47 rifle is dead. He designed the gun when he was 20.
He was admitted to the hospital with internal bleeding in November and died on Monday at the age of 94 in his home in izhevsk near the Ural mountains where his gun is still made.

The Ak-47 rifle was designed as a result of the request by his fellow soldier who wondered why the Russians could not design a gun that would match the ones used by the Germans. Though he received many honors  including the order of Lenin and the hero of socialist labor, Kalashinov refused to accept responsibility for the many people killed by his weapon, blaming the policies of the countries that acquired it, and once claimed he would have been better off designing a lawn mower, since he made little proceeds from it.
Till date, the Ak-47 is the most widely used gun by more armies in the world, terrorist including OUR own Boko haram, AL-queda etc. If the name of Samuel Colt and his revolver is associated with the 19th century, then the gun of the 20th century is undoubtedly the Ak-47
