Cameroon Government Fines MTN $160 Million For Corruption Charges

Cameroon Government Fines MTN $160 Million For Corruption Charges

The force is definitely not with MTN. Despite the fact they are still struggling to pay a negotiated fine of $3.9 billion slammed on them by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered SIM cards.

The Cameroonian governemnt fined MTN $160 million yesterday in a move that might demoralize them. The fine, which was incurred for failure to pay taxes on games and gambling services, was equally extended to other telecommunications firm, including Orange and other companies. This came off the heels of an investigation into the sector, leading to a total fine of $283 million, that included Camtel and Viettel which were also in violation of the regulations.

In the report written by CONAC, the Cameroonian anti corruption commission, MTN and Orange were also accused of not paying taxes on their money transfer system, known as Mobile Money.

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) had in October 2015, issued a landmark fine of ₦1.04 trillion against MTN Nigeria, but MTN in counter moves initiated legal proceedings against the NCC.

With the fines hitting from back to back, these are definitely not good times for the giant telecommunications provider.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned the duo of Shehu Mustapha, Registrar Litigation, Adamawa State High Court and Barrister Binanu R. Esthon, former Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Yola Chapter before Justice B.B Aliyu of the Federal High Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on a 4-count charge bordering on conspiracy and criminal diversion of funds to the tune of N60million (sixty million naira).

According to a statement signed by the spokesperson of EFCC, Mustapha and Esthon were docked following a complaint alleging criminal conspiracy between the accused persons.

A group of staff numbering five hundred and one were disengaged from Stirling Civil Engineering Company Limited, but had their entitlements withheld by the Company. The disengaged staff, through the former NBA boss, Esthon, instituted a lawsuit against their employer (Stirling Civil Engineering Company Limited) at the Adamawa State High Court sitting in Yola, and had the judgment entered in their favour. According to them, Esthon, in connivance with Mustapha, the registrar of the court, diverted part of the funds meant for the settlement of their entitlements to personal use.

Count one of the charge reads:
“That you, Shehu Mustapha sometime between 2007-2009 at Yola, Adamawa State within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court with intent to defraud, did obtained money, the sum of N59, 995,000.00 from Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar being the proceeds recovered from the auction executed against the properties of Stirling Civil Engineering Company Limited as judgment debtor delivered by Adamawa State High Court in suit No.ADSY/60M/2007 under the false pretence that the said sum was to be utilized in settling the judgment creditors which you never did instead diverted the said sum to your personal use, thereby committed an offence contrary to the provisions of Section 2 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act LFN 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.”

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them. In view of their plea, counsel to EFCC, A. Y. Muntaqa asked the court for a date to commence trial.

However, L. D Nzadon, counsel to the accused persons, urged the court to admit the defendants to bail adding that, the accused persons would not do anything to frustrate their trial. Justice Aliyu admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N5million and a surety each in like sum.

The case has been adjourned to March 14, 15, 16 and 17, 2016 for hearing.

Those who stole from Nigeria have newspapers, radio & TV stations - Lai Mohammed

While speaking at a meeting with Nigerian entertainers in Lagos over the weekend, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said those who stole Nigeria dry have newspapers, Radio and Television stations and are very powerful people in the society. He added that the fight against corruption by the Buhari administration is already getting global attention ...

"The federal government is delighted that the anti-corruption war being led by President Muhammadu Buhari has been acknowledged and applauded on a global stage. It is particularly gratifying that in that speech, Mr Kerry made the link between corruption and terrorism. We agree that corruption is indeed a radicaliser because it destroys faith in legitimate authority. Let me remind you, gentlemen, that radicalisation is a key causative factor of terrorism. We know that those who stole us dry are powerful. They have newspapers, radio and television stations and an army of supporters to continuously deride the government’s war against corruption. But we are undaunted and will not relent until corruption is also decimated.”he said

Exposed Photos: Fake pastor caught in Umuohia

The news crew of Vision Africa Radio station in Umuohia physically visited, saw, interviewed and witnessed the confession of a man alleged to be a fake pastor. Read the story they shared on their Facebook page below...
One suspected fake prophet, Steven Maduabuchi from Afaraukwu Umuahia yesterday evening ran into trouble when some youths from Umuika Okwu Olokoro caught him while trying to bury an object alleged to be charm within the village square. The suspect who claim to be thirty years old said that he sells necklaces at Lagos and explained when asked, that his motive was to organize an outreach in the Olokoro village next week.

The said Steven Maduabuchi disclosed to Vision Africa Radio correspondent, Felix Obani  that the secret behind the act was to proclaim fake prophesy in order to attract firm to his ministry. When questioned further, the suspected fake evangelist revealed that he was sent by his leader that resides in Aba  called Chibuike John who was busy calling him on phone to ascertain if he has succeeded in burying the charms.
The items recovered from him include one small empty coffin made with plywood, tied red mud pot, old snail shell tied with white wrapper, black rope including sea shell (eze-ego).  However Steven Maduabuchi said that he learnt the fake prophesy work from his leader in Aba and the one in Lagos and confessed that the charms are harmless. Investigations revealed that he had successfully buried two charms before he was caught.

Meanwhile the leaders of Umuika Okwu Olokoro including Senator Chris Adighije, Chief Alozie Ukaegbu among others pardoned the fake prophet and forced him to destroy the charm before them with serious warning for him to desist from such unholy attitude. They commended the youths for not taking laws into their hands and advised the young man to embrace God and also look for a genuine job rather that deceiving people and misrepresenting God.

Borno Elders say those involved in arms deal scandal are the real Boko Haram sponsors

Borno Elders say those involved in arms deal scandal are the real Boko Haram sponsors

The Borno Elders Forum has alleged that all those that have been accused of misappropriating $2.1 billion arms fund are the real sponsors of Boko Haram. The group made the allegation in a statement signed by their chairman, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and released yesterday Jan. 21st.The statement  reads in part;

“Much has been said about the sponsors of Boko Haram. With the horrifying revelations about the ‘Arms Deal’, it is no longer necessary to continue delaying the search for the real sponsors of Boko Haram. Those who collected such huge sums of money from the national treasury and converted same for their unending greed and avarice should be regarded as part and parcel of the sponsors of Boko Haram. Get them and you will get the rest. The people who sponsored the activities of Boko Haram or those who deliberately turned away from their official responsibilities on security issues, or those who looted the funds meant for the prosecution of the war against Boko Haram, and those who spoke or continue to speak in their favour are all one and the same. They all individually and collectively aided and sponsored the Boko Haram insurgency. They colluded to ensure the death of our brave soldiers, our innocent people and the near total destruction of our society. Nigerians should stand by us and collectively assist to bring those responsible to book. Since the outbreak of the Boko Haram uprising in 2009 to date, the Borno Elders Forum had been voicing out at every critical stage of the crisis, proffering possible ways of addressing very critical security and social issues. However, until the advent of the current government under President Muhammadu Buhari, we were ignored. We are somehow relieved that not only the present government but the generality of our Nigerian compatriots are now showing great understanding and compassion on our sorry state of existence. The massive killing of our people, the wholesome destruction of our settlements, the massive humanitarian crisis faced by over two million internally displaced persons, the creation of hundreds of thousands of widows and orphans and so on, seem to be of no consequence to some Nigerians. It does not speak well of any Nigerian, for whatever reason, to fight or criticize the President of Nigeria or call our anti–corruption agencies names when they simply want to make offenders pay for the crimes most of them have confessed to have committed. We feel hurt and betrayed that some Nigerians are politicizing this despicable issue of ‘Arms Deal.’ People are rushing to our courts of law to manipulate the law, taking cover under the canopy of the constitution and misinterpreted human rights dicta to confuse the nation. Even the constitution itself has balanced interests of people against the interest of individuals. In this case, the interest of the victims should prevail when it comes to justice. Let those Nigerians know that thousands of Nigerians perished due to the misuse of funds meant for security, not only the ‘Arms Deal’ case but several other instances before it. Playing politics with those issues is to condone the loss of lives and the destruction of our livelihood,”.

Dasuki drags FG to ECOWAS court, demands N500m damages

Dasuki drags FG to ECOWAS court, demands N500m damages

Following his continued detention despite meeting his bail conditions, former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, has filed a suit against the Federal Government before the ECOWAS Court in Abuja and is demanding payment of N500 million damages for alleged rights infringement.

In the suit filed by his lawyer, Robert Emukpoeruo, Dasuki asked the court to declare his continued detention as “unlawful, arbitrary and an egregious violation” of his human rights. Dasuki in the suit also asked the court to declare that the alleged invasion of his Abuja and Sokoto residences on July 16 and 17, 2015 and the “forceful and unlawful seizure” of his properties, “without any lawful order or warrant” constituted a gross violation of his fundamental rights and offended the country’s treaty obligations as a signatory to the listed legal instruments.

No date has been set for hearing of the suit. In a related development, Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja yesterday ordered the Federal government to produce him in court on February 16th. Dasuki's lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), told the court that his client was abducted by security agents six weeks ago to an unknown destination. He told Justice Ademola that since the ex-NSA was whisked away, all efforts by his family and his lawyers to access him had been scuttled. Justice Ademola said:

“I am worried that the accused is not here. I do not want to set a bad precedent. Except the court gives express order for the defendant not to be in court, the accused must be brought to court from wherever he is. The accused must be here because I am not sure if what I am doing right now in the absence of the accused is not an illegality. Government and whoever is concerned must endeavour to do the necessary thing. The accused having been formally charged in court, must be produced in court for trial on the appointed days in compliance with the provisions of the law,”

Dasuki’s trial has been fixed for February 16 and 17 before Justice Ademola

PIC: My Neighbour Kidnapped, Sold My Daughter For N20,000

PIC: My Neighbour Kidnapped, Sold My Daughter For N20,000

Since December 22, Godwin Onyeisi has not known peace following the mysterious disappearance of his three-year-old daughter, Success from home.

The minor was allegedly abducted by a neighbour, Emmanuel Okpara, who joined the father to look for the girl, until he was manipulated by people who saw him with the child about the time she reportedly went missing.

Success’ disappearance bungled the family’s plan to travel home for the Yuletide and it is threatening the education of her other siblings. Her father, a commercial motorcyclist said he has spent all his savings – about N60,000 – on police investigation and other logistics.

Okpara has been arrested and transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, where he allegedly confessed that he sold the minor for N20,000. But Onyeisi said they do not know who the buyer is or where he lives.

At their Adebumoye Street, Coconut, Apapa, Lagos home, a troubled Onyeisi told The Nation that he initially did not believe that Okpara, whom he has treated like a brother over the years could kidnap his daughter.
“The worst part is that he (Okpara) followed me to all the places I went to in search of my daughter, with the same clothe he wore when he kidnapped her.

“He followed me on my motorcycle to all the palaces of the Baales, all the streets and all the police stations we visited, until people who saw him with her about the time she went missing, told us and the police that he was the kidnapper,” Onyeisi said.
He said he was at work when his wife called him on phone that she could not find their daughter.

His wife, he said, had left the girl, who was watching cartoon at home, to quickly buy some of the things they need to travel to Delta State for the Yuletide.

“My older children went to fetch water at the well in a nearby compound. They went with other children in our yard. So, because we were planning to travel, my wife left Success who was watching cartoon in the room and rushed to the market.

“She was the one who called me that they have been looking for Success and have not seen her. Initially I didn’t really take her seriously because I did not think anyone will want to harm me or my family.
“When I came back and they have not seen her yet, I started going round the neighbourhood asking questions.

“As we were going round to ask people, the Baales were sending messages through town criers that anyone that saw her should come forward with the information.

“For two days, we went round in search of my daughter and my neighbour was with me all through the period. He was wearing the same red T-shirt that people saw him with while he took my daughter away. But he was following me as if he did not know anything about her disappearance.

“From December 23, we started hearing information that he was seen with my daughter, but I did not believe it because Success is very close to him. I have been very good to his family; I even connected my generator to his house to give them light.

“Whenever my daughter is given food, she will take it to eat with him. Once we bath her, she will take her clothe to him to wear for her. She usually slept in their house, so I did not want to believe that he was behind her disappearance.

“But three women later came to our house, among the three was a woman he bought bottled water from while he was with my daughter. So, the woman now said he saw him with my daughter and that after drinking from the water, he gave my daughter to drink and they left.

“I still did not believe what they were saying. I told them to stop lying against him until my wife got angry and went and reported to the police that I was also a suspect. That was how I was arrested with him on December 25 and we slept at the station.

“He was still denying it, until the women and all those who saw him with my daughter came to the police station and identified him.

“They even described the clothe he was wearing, which happened to be the same clothe he wore while he was following me about. That was how the police detained him.

“After some days, he confessed that he was the one who took her and that he sold her for N20,000 through somebody else to a man who lives in Okota.

“He said he cannot remember the man and the middle man who took the baby to the buyer usually stayed at a woman’s house here in Coconut.

“I have been going from church to church and they keep telling me that my daughter is alive.

“Okpara should let me know if he has killed my daughter. If my baby is still alive, he should say where she is. How can a man like that kidnap a little girl and since then he doesn’t want to say where she is? Police need to put pressure on him to say where my baby is.

“I have spent all my savings on the investigation of this matter. I have been giving the police money so that the case is not slowed down. Now I don’t even have money to pay for the school fees of my other children,” he said.
The Police have launched a manhunt for the buyer and the prophet he allegedly gave the child to.

It was gathered that the woman in whose house the middleman usually slept was nabbed but she was released because she knew nothing about the case.

It was learnt that the middleman gave the child to a chief, who handed her over to his prophet for sacrifice.

All the locations mentioned by Okpara have been visited by the police but they were deserted including two companies at Lekki said to be owned by the yet-to-be identified chief.

The Nation learnt that efforts to nab the suspects have been thwarted by their informants, who have been placed under watch.

“The police are very close to getting them. We will hunt them down soonest. Both the man who bought the girl and the one who took her to the buyer are being hunted, we are very close to getting them and will get them,” the source said.

Courts Nullifies 81 Elections, Upturns 15 Others, Says INEC

Courts Nullifies 81 Elections, Upturns 15 Others, Says INEC

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday disclosed that high courts sitting across the States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have so far nullified a total of 81 elections including Senatorial, House of Representatives and two governorship polls that would proceed to the Supreme Court.
INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu made these disclosures yesterday in Abuja during his first meeting with states’ Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

Yakubu said the meeting with the electoral umpires was to enable the Commission to discuss “ number of issues including the assessment of the elections conducted so far, the continuous voters registration, distribution of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) yet to be distributed before the 2015 general elections, by-elections, and the one very dear to the commission, the welfare of our staff.”

Yakubu added, “as at last week, the High court sitting nationwide have annulled a total of 81 elections comprising senatorial, House of Representatives and two governorship elections that will proceed to the Supreme Court.”

“In 2007, after the general elections in that year, a total of 20 elections were nullified; in 2011, 34 elections were nullified, making a total of 54 elections for a period between 2007 and 2011. But for the 2015 elections so far, 81 elections have been nullified, which is more than the two previous elections put together,” he stated.

The INEC boss said further that “a number of elections was upturned at the court of appeal and ordered that a certificate of returns to be issued to rightful winners which the Commission had complied with.”

“As at the end of last week, there were 15 of such cases, which we have duly complied. So if you add the upturned elections and nullified elections so far, the number is 96. So we need to put our heads together to respond immediately the decisions of the court to conduct these elections.

“We have a maximum of 90 days to conduct the elections. This means that we have latest, the middle of March to conduct the elections. So the first quarter of this year is going to be for the commission, like a mini-general elections.

“So this meeting is to review the situation and take wide range decisions, so that free, fair and credible elections could be conducted with deployment of technology,” he said.

AC Milan To Sue Yusupha Yaffa Over Age Falsification

AC Milan To Sue Yusupha Yaffa Over Age Falsification

Gazetta dello Sport claims Yusupha Yaffa lied to Italian authorities upon arriving from Gambia in 2009, insisting he was 13 years old when he was actually 22.

AC Milan is taking former academy player Yusupha Yaffa to court following allegations he told the club he was nine years younger than his real age.

Yaffa arrived in Italy in 2009 seeking asylum from Gambia and, according to Gazetta dello Sport, lost his identity papers and claimed his age was 13, when his actual age is said to have been 22.

A move to the Milan academy followed in 2013 when he was presumed to be 16 years old with a birthday of December 31, 1997, but an investigation puts his real birthday as February 14, 1987.

Yaffa, who is now on loan at German outfit MSV Duisburg from Eintracht Frankfurt, spent three years with Milan and became a regular in their Under-19 set-up before leaving 12 months ago.

The striker faces fraud charges in Italy after reportedly raising suspicions over his age with comments made on Facebook regarding his schooling and multiple queries from former school friends.
Navy Handover Vessel, Boat With N11m Stolen Diesel To EFCC

Navy Handover Vessel, Boat With N11m Stolen Diesel To EFCC

The Nigerian Navy said it had handed over a vessel and wooden boat with about 10,000 litres of suspected stolen diesel worth N11 million to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Nigerian Navy also handed over two crew members of the vessel to EFCC to commence further investigation and possible prosecution.

Handing over the vessel and the wooden boat to the EFCC, commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, Commodore Sanusi Ibrahim, said the vessel, MT Purity, was arrested transporting the petroleum product without permit.

Ibrahim stated that Nigerian Navy troops during a routine patrol of creeks and waterways on December 2, 2015, accosted the vessel carrying diesel believed to have been illegally refined.

He said, “During investigation, we discovered that the vessel manned by two crew members had no competency to justify them serving onboard the vessel. Similarly, the vessel had no authorisation from both the navy and other relevant government agencies to move petroleum products.”

The NNS commander stated that the Navy would continue to maintain its zero tolerance on crude oil theft, illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and piracy in the nation’s maritime environment.

Ibrahim urged the public to continue to assist the navy and other security agencies with information that would lead to arrest of oil thieves and other economic saboteurs.

Receiving the vessel and wooden boat, the head, Counter Terrorism and General Investigation of the EFCC in Rivers State, Mr David Iyang took delivery of the vessel, wooden boat and suspects.

Iyang assured that the commission would carry out thorough investigation, adding that if found guilty, the suspects would be arraigned in court.

Lassa Fever Hits Ekiti, Delta

Lassa Fever Hits Ekiti, Delta

Lassa fever hits Ekiti, Delta
•Two more victims die in Plateau •Medical worker quarantined  •250 under watch in Rivers
THERE was panic yesterday in Ido Ekiti, headquarters of Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Ekiti State and Asaba, Delta State following the confirmation of two Lassa fever cases.
The victim in Ekiti State, a Nursing student, is now on admission at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti (FETHI) after testing positive to the virus on Saturday.

It came barely 48 hours after the House of Assembly’s Speaker, Kola Oluwawole, described Ekiti as an example to other states in the management of Lassa fever.
Commissioner for Health Dr. Olurotimi Ojo, who confirmed the case yesterday at a meeting on Lassa fever in Ado Ekiti, said the patient was isolated and that doctors were battling to save her life.

Ojo said he confirmed the case from FETHI Chief Medical Director, Dr. Lawrence Ayodele, who also established that the victim is a Nursing student.
The patient was said to have been treated for malaria and typhoid fever with high profile antibiotics, but did not respond to treatment.
Ojo said: “Over the weekend, the state confirmed a case of Lassa fever that is being managed at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti. The patient is stable and had commenced treatment.
“Immediately the patient was diagnosed and confirmed, the management began the process of contact-tracing. Once you have an index case, there is tendency of having a primary case and a possible spread and this could be dangerous.
“Though, the doctors are handling the situation and monitoring the situation closely. So, nobody has been quarantined after the contact-tracing.”
He advised residents to take precautionary measures and refrain from taking risk that could lead to the contact or spread of the disease.
The Speaker, on Sunday, at a church service, urged health workers in the state to “maintain the tempo of success you are recording in the health sector, particularly on the issue of the rampaging Lassa fever”.
The confirmed case in Delta State is a 65-year-old woman from Ifiogwari village, Ayamelunu, Anambra State, who came for treatment in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
She was first admitted at St. Joseph’s Hospital before being referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, when her condition worsened.
The Delta State Rapid Response Team said it placed 22 persons, who had contact with the confirmed case on surveillance and five samples were sent for laboratory investigation.
The state government has informed the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, on the developments.
Lassa fever is caused by a virus found in the urine and faeces of a specie of rat when it contaminates food or water or come in contact with broken skin of humans.
Infected persons spread the disease when their body fluids, such as blood, faeces, urine, sperm and vomit come in contact with others.
Rivers State Commissioner for Health Dr. Theophilus Odagme yesterday confirmed the admission of a medical worker of Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), at one of the three quarantine centres created by the state for prompt isolation and treatment of Lassa fever victims.
Odagme spoke through a statement by his Press Officer, Paul Baziah-Nsaneh, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He said 250 persons were placed under surveillance across the state and that the state “is doing everything possible to ensure the virus does not spread further”.
Lassa fever outbreak was reported in the state in December.
Also yesterday, workers of Emergency Medical Service of the BMSH locked up the gates of the government-owned hospital, following 14 months’ unpaid salaries by the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration.
The workers proceeded to the Government House, where they made known their grievances.
They said they were at the centre of the risk of contracting the disease and threatened to stop work.
Members of the state Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) have been on a warning strike for  the abduction of two of their members by gunmen.
Lassa Fever has claimed two more lives in Plateau, the government confirmed yesterday in Jos.
Commissioner for Health Mr Kuden Dayin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the victims died at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) on Saturday.
This brings to three those killed after the commissioner confirmed the death of one person at Ting village in Fombur District of Mangu Local Government Area last week.
According to Dayin, relations, friends and health workers, who came in contact with the victims, were placed under surveillance.
He added that 32 persons were under surveillance in Mangu, from the 15 placed under surveillance last week.
But the commissioner said none of those under surveillance showed any sign of symptoms of the disease.
But the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) yesterday decried the inadequate diagnostic laboratory facilities despite persistent outbreaks.
This, AMLSN stated, was not in tandem with the principle of universal health coverage, which, it said, has to be accessible, available and affordable.
The body, therefore, called on the Federal Government to consider the idea of specialised public health laboratories against emerging and re-emerging hemorrhagic fevers as Ebola, Lassa Fever and others.

We've driven Boko Haram to fall-back positions, says Buhari
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday that Nigeria has made significant progress towards ending Boko Haram insurgency since his assumption of office.

Speaking at a meeting with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki Moon on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, Buhari said in collaboration with the Multinational Joint Task Force, the Nigerian Armed Forces have driven the terrorist group from Nigerian territory into “fall-back positions”.

In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President said: “They are currently not holding any territory today as we speak.”

“With all due respect to our neighbours, Nigeria has been worst hit by the drying up of the Lake Chad and we are hoping that the global community will support the process of halting the drying up of the lake, ” Buhari said.

500 women defect to PDP in Edo

500 women defect to PDP in Edo

About 500 women from the Social Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress in Udaba community, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The women said they were joining the party that would take Edo to a higher level.
State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, who receive the defectors said a PDP government in Edo would prioritize women empowerment and welfare.
Chief Orbih encouraged them to become apostles of change in the state by mobilizing support for the PDP.

Orbih said the PDP would neutralize Governor Oshiomhole’s plan to replace himself with another stranger as the governor.

He said Oshiomhole was a stranger in the state who would be leaving hardship and huge debt burden on the state.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu said the Afemai people would not lose anything after Oshiomhole hands over in November.

A former commissioner for Lands and Survey under Oshiomhole, Donald Boi Osikena, disclosed that he resigned because his responsibilities as commissioner were usurped by the governor.
Osikena, who defected to the PDP last year, said, “My ministry was being run from the government house. Approvals for lands and certificate of occupancy were being issued from government house without informing me. I reasoned that I didn’t want to go to jail early in life, so I left.”
