Four More Girls Escape

Four More Girls Escape

Four girls out of the 168 students of
Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok,
Borno State, that were abducted by Boko
Haram in April, have escaped.
The Chairman, Chibok Local Government Area,
Mr. Bana Lawan, announced this on Tuesday in
Abuja at a one-day stakeholders meeting for
validation of draft humanitarian response plan
for the abducted girls. The meeting was
organised by the National Emergency
Management Agency.
Lawan, who was represented by the Director
for Personnel and Management, Mr. Musa
Elijah, said the number of escapees had risen to
57 as against 53, while 164 girls were still held
by the terrorist group.
He said, “The people of Chibok are anxiously
waiting for the safe return of their children.
Except for the unfortunate situation where two
of the parents have passed on. They were known
to have BP (blood pressure) issues, although I
am not a medical expert, but they will not be
opportuned to welcome back their daughters.
“Latest report reaching us is that instead of 53,
those that have escaped are now 57 and those
remaining are 164 and not 168 as before. This
is out of the 221 girls that were abducted.”
Lawan explained that it was not all those who
registered for the Senior School Certificate
Examination in the school that stayed back.
“Those that registered for the SSCE are not all
that sat for the exam. Over 500 registered and
those who had relatives around decided to move
to various places like Kaduna and Maiduguri to
write the exams. Those that were left with no
relations decided to stay back to take the risk
and among them 221 were abducted.”
The chairman said the moral of the girl child in
the North-East was low as most of them were
discouraged.
“The school in particular has been existing for
long and the quality of education in it has been
diminishing. So I want to appeal to the Federal
Government, through NEMA and the
presidential committee, to intervene in
rebuilding the school,” he added.

‘I know Boko Haram leader Shekau’s hide-out’

‘I know Boko Haram leader Shekau’s hide-out’

Controversial Islamic scholar and leader of the
Islamic Movement in Nigeria popularly called
Shiite Muslim group, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky
has alleged that the leader of the Boko Haram
insurgents, Abubakar Shekau was being shielded
by the Nigerian military.
Zakzaky who spoke at the Movement’s 2014
Martyr day in Zaria on Sunday also alleged that
the Boko Haram activities were part of covert
operation by the developed nations to balkanize
Nigeria and plunder its resources.
While claiming he knows the hide out of the
nation’s most wanted man, Zakzaky said:
“Abubakar Shekau is presently being kept safe
in a military camp. Let no one be fooled, there
is nothing like Boko Haram. It is a covert
operation to balkanize Nigeria and steals its
resources in the name of search of Boko Haram
insurgents. If you can fool others, we cannot be
fooled.
“They have realised that there is gold in
Zamfara and Zaria, Birnin-Gwari, gold and
platinum in Sokoto and Borno. They did it in
Iraq, as they went in search of weapons of mass
destruction which they never found but plunged
the country in chaos.
“The same thing was experimented in
Afghanistan before our eyes. The Western
countries are experimenting the second phase
of scramble for Africa with great expectations
from Nigeria.
“The U.S. and Israel see the Islamic Movement
in Nigeria as the greatest threat to achieving
their sinister objective, hence the constant
clampdown attempt and arrest of our members.”
While alleging victimization of its members by
the Nigerian authorities, he asked for the
immediate release of two of its members
Haruna Abbas and Ibrahim Hussain, who he said
was arrested over a year ago for no just cause
and “unjustifiably” detained without trial.
“No law or constitutional provision allows for
such a lengthy detention without trial and
without visitation by families and friends,
especially in a democratic government Nigeria is
claiming to operate,” Zakzaky said.
Meanwhile, an inter-religious group, Think-
Nigeria Christian/Muslim Initiative wants
Nigerians to work hard to expose activities of
terrorist groups in the country and ensure
religious harmony in the country.
While commending multi-billionaire businessman,
Alhaji Umaru Abdulmutallab, who reported his
son Faruk to the authorities when he became
radicalized, the group in a communiqué at the
end of a two day summit in Kaduna asked
parents to pay more attention to their children
and wards in order to protect them from
activities of religious extremists.

Real Madrid’s Decima success left coach Carlo Ancelotti “loco with happiness”.
Madrid landed their 10th European Cup crown on Saturday after beating city rivals Atletico 4-1 in Lisbon.
The scoreline only told half the story, though, with Real trailing 1-0 deep into injury time at the end of the 90 minutes before Sergio Ramos nodded in a dramatic equaliser.

Sealed with a kiss: Ramos rescues Casillas and delivers La Decima
With three minutes to play, they were done for. Half an hour later, they’d scored four. The Decima dream is finally a reality for Real Madrid.
Atletico Madrid looked set to write one final fantastic chapter in an amazing story by winning the Champions League final in Lisbon, but their city rivals dug as deep as they have in a long, long time to earn a flattering but fantastic 4-1 victory.
Diego Simeone’s men had gained the lead thanks to a moment of madness from Iker Casillas. The Madrid captain made the irrational decision to race out into no-man’s land as Diego Godin tussled with Sami Khedira after Juanfran returned Raphael Varane’s clearance.
But as the ball looped over the prone Spain goalkeeper and beyond the goal-line, the look on Casillas’ face said it all. He knew he had handed Atleti a potentially crucial lead.

Abandoned Volkswagen Golf car that caused panic
The serene atmosphere of Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja, was today punctured as a bomb scare made traders scamper for safety.  The incident, which occurred at about 1.00pm at the popular El- Rufai Bus Stop, near a crowded village market, also forced parents to rush to fetch their wards from schools, in turn leading both private and public school to close abruptly.

SaharaReporters gathered that a Volkswagen Gulf car had been sighted parked near the bus stop for a very long period of time with gas cylinders in it, without anybody claiming ownership of the vehicle
leading to public suspicion. A resident who pleaded anonymity told journalists that people soon started running helter-skelter in the belief the car contained a bomb that might go off at any time.

I will visit Chibok but does that solve the problem?" - Pres. Jonathan

At a press conference for the Regional Security Summit that held in France today, President Jonathan explained why he hasn't visited the Chibok community, the school or parents of the missing girls...
"The school is owned by the State Government but it is the commitment of the Federal government to rebuild the school, build walls to protect it and provide facilities since it is predominantly a school that takes care of girls education so that the girls would be protected. Yes I will visit Chibok, no doubt about that but what we are anxious about now is to locate the girls. These girls are not held in Chibok. If the President goes to Chibok today, does that solve any problem? Maybe psychological problem or for media relevance but you have not solved the problem. The problem facing the President and indeed the Nigerian government is to get these girls from wherever they are" he said

Teenager Rescues Two Girls From Boko-Haram

Their faces scratched and bleeding, the pitiful remains of their once-smart school uniforms ripped and filthy, the two teenage girls were tethered to trees, wrists bound with rope and left in a clearing in the Nigerian bush to die by Islamist terror group Boko Haram.

Despite having been Molested and dragged through the bush, they were alive – but only just – in the sweltering tropical heat and humidity.

This grim scene was discovered by 15-year-old Baba Goni. ‘They were seated on the ground at the base of the trees, their legs stretched out in front of them – they were hardly conscious,’ says Baba, who acted as a guide for one of the many vigilante teams searching for the Nigerian schoolgirls abducted from their school last month by Boko
