11-year-old Boy Admitted To The University To Study Quantum Physics

Carson Huey-You, an 11-year-old is among the new class of undergrads at Texas Christian University – adjusting to college life, finding the right buildings, settling in for those easy core classes.

Around the time when most kids are playing with jacks and baseball cards, young Huey-You will be taking university-level courses among teenagers and young adults. And it won't just be any class load. The boy, who scored a 1770 on his SAT, speaks Mandarin Chinese and plays the piano, will be studying nothing less than quantum physics.

His mom, Claretta, says her son had intense focus as an infant. By the age of one, he could read. By five, he was doing pre-algebra. Calculus, he says, relaxes him.

If he graduates as his parents expect, in four to five years, Carson will have a college diploma before or at the same time he gets his driver’s license.

What were you doing at 11? I was in secondary school - FGC Kano, hiding from those wicked seniors..lol

Students Give FG, ASUU 7-Day Ultimatum To End Strike

Nigerian students have had enough of staying at home due to the ASUU strike and they have made this clear by speaking out.

As a result of the almost two month old strike, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government and the union’s leadership to resolve their differences or face serious consequences.

According to reports, the students said if the impasse was not resolved within the next seven days, it will mobilize students on a nation-wide riot in what it described as ‘operation occupy Nigeria’.

Chelsea have signed Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o on a free transfer from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.

The 32-year-old joins the Premier League team on a one-year-deal.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was Eto'o's boss at Inter Milan when they won the Champions League in 2010.

"It wasn't a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it," Eto'o said.
NLC To Resolve ASUU/FG Face-off

NLC To Resolve ASUU/FG Face-off

THE Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) yesterday said it will ask the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resume negotiation with the Federal Government for the resolution of their differences.

NLC President, comrade Abdulwahed Omar, spoke after the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

He said there were reports that the union had issued a statement to withdraw from the negotiations with the Federal Government.

Omar said: “Congress resolved at the meeting that we are also going to make consultations to ensure that the negotiations resume immediately. We want to ensure that they are resumed to resolve the issues, not to resume and continue to dangle around without making any headway. We are also going to study the situation and make some proposals.

“But we, at the meeting, also did deliberate on one or two other issues, particularly on the issue of strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

A California girl saved her siblings from their burning home after she had a gut feeling that danger was imminent.

Many people claim to have experienced premonitions — those eerie, foreboding feelings that something unpleasant is about to happen. They can run from the mundane (knowing who's calling before answering the phone) to the disastrous (dreaming that a loved one will pass away). And sometimes they’re simply uneasy feelings that bad luck is on the horizon.

That’s exactly what 11-year-old Maria Elias of McFarland, California, experienced when she went to bed on Saturday night. "I couldn't go to sleep because I knew something was going to happen," Maria told KGET TV 17.

Sure enough, at 1:30 a.m., a fire broke out in her family's three-bedroom home, causing an estimated $85,000 worth of damage. Maria fought back tears as she told KGET how she got her two younger brothers and sister to safety and was holding her sister "tight" to ensure that she didn't leave her behind.

Yahoo! Shine could not reach Maria or her family for comment, and it’s unclear exactly how the little girl ushered her siblings to safety. However, Corey Wilford of the Kern County Fire Department told Yahoo! Shine, “Based on witness testimony, the fire was electrical. A person who was sleeping in the home heard a loud pop and smelled smoke, then saw fire erupt on the wall.”

20 Things Women Should Never Do!

20 Things Women Should Never Do!

1. Do not shave off your eyebrows only to redraw them with a pencil… it makes no sense.

2. Do not put on too much make up, you end up looking like you came out of the make-up factory.

3. Do not wear a vest or sleeveless top without shaving your armpits or without a bra underneath.

4. Do not leave chipped nail polish to wear off on its own, there’s a reason why they sell nail polish remover.

5. If you can’t afford good quality weaves, don’t bother.

ASUU Can Continue Their Strike! No MoneyTo Meet Demands “Says Okonjo-Iweala

ASUU Can Continue Their Strike! No MoneyTo Meet Demands “Says Okonjo-Iweala

There is always money to pay our political
officers holders, we all observed, even more than their counterparts in
developed countries. But when it comes to
matters of developing the leaders of tomorrow
or critical infrastructure in Nigeria, there will
always be scarcity of funds.
Below is what the coordinating minister of the
economy is saying to ASUU:

At present, ASUU wants government to pay
N92 billion in extra allowances over and above
their salaries. Though we are in discussion with
them, the problem is that the resources to
take care of the demands are simply not
there.

People are supportive when there is agitation
to increase salaries, pensions among
others. But on the other hand, people also turn
around to say the recurrent budget is too high
and there is no way you can have it both ways
and so we have to make specific choices in this
country.

"I decided to adopt a baby from an orphanage [after loosing hope], I was swindled. At this stage, I ignored the voice and handed the matter over to God. And now I am a happy mother.” - Says Mrs Kate Fezigha

In case you missed this Nigerian woman's wonderful story, read it below:
A 52-year-old woman, Mrs Kate Fezigha, has given birth to her first baby, which came after 19 years of her marriage. The new mother, whois a midwife at the General Hospital, Sagbama in Bayelsa State, got married in 1994 and has supervised the delivery of many children but she never had a child.

"I am a victim of domestic violence" - Actress Chika Ike opens up

Actress Chike Ike pens an open letter to her fans, opening up about the physical abuse she suffered in the hands of the man she called her husband for five years. Find her story below...

The past three years has been a very emotional period for me. I focused my energy on work and to build back my self esteem. its been really hard for me to come out straight and talk about this because sometimes I pinch myself to wake up and not believe that I was a victim of domestic violence. I've been through a lot in my life, faced a lot of challenges but this is one topic I've tried so hard to avoid and have been waiting for the right time but I have come to a resolve   that there's really no right time because every second of the day, lives are being lost due to domestic violence.  I was a victiim of domestic violence in my marriage and that was the singular reason I left my marriage, aside other reasons.

When in November 2012, Winifred Okey,

however cut short after she was set ablaze at
the corper’s lodge by her ex-boyfriend. And I

OAU Ranked 8th In Africa And 1st In Nigeria

OAU Ranked 8th In Africa And 1st In Nigeria

In further confirmation of its academic excellence and intellectual supremacy over and above other Universities and Institutions of Higher Learning, the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has, again, been rated the first and the best University in Nigeria and 8th in Africa.

The new webometric ranking released today, Monday, 5th August, 2013, by the Cybermetrics Lab of Spain (a world-renowned Research Council) and circulated round the world, moved Obafemi Awolowo University higher on the ladder from number 14 to number 8 in Africa. This is a development that academic analysts and managements of universities in Africa have hailed as a monumental leap for educational advancement in Nigeria. This is the first time that a Nigerian University would be so ranked consecutively.

It would be recalled that Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was, early this year, rated by the Cybermetrics Lab of Spain as the first and the best University in Nigeria and 14th in Africa before the new webometric ranking that was released today.

Reacting, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bamitale Omole, attributed the giant strides recorded by his administration to the unparalleled research output, administrative acumen, technical know-how of the academic, administrative and technical staff of the University, adding that only a focused leadership, which is the hallmark of his management team, can produce such a spectacular feat.

FUTMINNA Ignores ASUU, Conducts Post-Utme

FUTMINNA Ignores ASUU, Conducts Post-Utme

IN disregard of the threat by its branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Federal University Technology, Minna, at the weekend conducted the post-UTME with over 5,000 candidates taking part in the exercise.

The ASUU in the institution had threatened not to recognise the candidates if the authorities decides to go ahead with the UTME.

The university’s chairman of ASUU, Dr. Abdulfatai Jimoh, insisted that the post-UTME is an academic exercise and will therefore be against the policy of the union if its members participate in such activity when they have been warned to suspend all academic activities.

According to him, “if all academic members of staff are not on ground, who will oversee the conduct, marking and grading of the examination as it is done in the past. How will it be done without us, and that is what we are waiting to see.”

But the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Abdullahi Bala, dismissed the threat by ASUU, saying that the institution decided to go ahead with the post-UTME because the conduct of the examination is exclusive responsibility of the office of the vice chancellor and not that of the ASUU

Hotel Selling Cooked Human Meat Found In Onitsha As Police Arrests 11 With Fresh Human Heads

Hotel Selling Cooked Human Meat Found In Onitsha As Police Arrests 11 With Fresh Human Heads

On Thursday Onitsha police arrested 11 people after they discovered 2 fresh human heads in a hotel (name withheld) very close to the popular Ose-Okwodu market in Anambra state.

2 AK47 rifles & other weapons were also discovered in the hotel.

The arrest followed tip-offs from area residents on Thursday morning.

The hotel owner, 6 women and 4 men were arrested.

After police got access to the hotel, they made a startling discovery of two human heads wrapped in a cellophane bag, two AK47 rifles, two army caps, 40 rounds of live ammunition and so many cell phones.

“Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel. So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday,” said a vegetable seller in the area

A Pastor who was among the people who tipped off the police on Thursday said: I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700, I was surprised. So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price.”

What is this country turning into?

Can you imagine people selling human flesh as meat.

Seriously I’m beginning to fear people in this part of the world.

Lord have mercy!
