Tragedy struck in Umuahia on Wednesday afternoon as a tailor stabbed to death his colleague at no. 39, Kaduna Street by Umuwaya Road after a minor disagreement on his absence from a scheduled meeting.
According to our source, the meeting which was scheduled to discuss sanitation matters was said to have not been fully attended by members leading to a decision to find out from the absentees why they boycotted the meeting.
The victim, identified as Anthony Kalu from Ebonyi state was one of those who could not attend the meeting.
It was reported that the suspect, Iheanyi John who hails from the same Edda community in Ebonyi State with his victim and who shares the same trade with the victim, demanded from him why he did not attend the meeting and had to be carrying out his tailoring work while others were attending a meeting that concerned all members.
Following a confrontation and reaction by Anthony, the suspect, Ifeanyi collected a scissors and plunged it into the neck of Anthony, close to the esophagus, leaving Anthony bleeding from the mouth, nose, eyes and ears.
According to the source, seeing that his victim had dropped dead, Ifeanyi was said to have left the scissors at the throat of his dead and bleeding brother and fled to the nearby Central Police Station where he handed himself over.
The Abia state Police public Relations Officer, Mr Ezekiel Onyeke who confirmed the incident said investigation was ongoing on the matter.
