Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Swansea City defender Ashley Williams ahead of a summer move to the Emirates Stadium according to Goal.com.
The 28 year old has agreed a three year deal with the North London club, said to be worth £60k a week, as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his Gunners defence.
Swansea City are yet to agree to the sale of the experienced Welsh international but the two teams are discussing the matter with valuations from the two teams seemingly not miles apart.
Williams is expected to cost Arsenal between £8m-£10m and is seen as a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who has been frozen out of first team action in recent weeks and been strongly linked with apparent interest from Barcelona.
Arsene Wenger is also likely to release Sebastien Squillaci when his current contract comes to an end in a month or so and Johan Djourou has expressed his desire to remain with Bundesliga side Hannover following his loan spell at the German side.
Ashley Williams has been a consistent performer with Swansea City since his move to South Wales in 2008 and has made 229 appearances for the club, helping them to climb up from League One to the top tier in a speedy fashion.
