Stop using sports facilities for weddings, thanksgivings, carnivals, etc - Sports Minister tells Governors

Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has advised state governors to stop the use of sport facilities in their state for events such as weddings, carnivals, political campaign, thanksgivings and others. Dalung said this while inspecting facilities at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Cross Rivers over the weekend.

"The turf of the football pitch here appears to be in bad shape and there is evidence that it was in good shape before but along the line, something happened. So, I suggest that football pitches across the country be exclusively used for those things that they are meant for and not to be subjected to other events that could destroy the turf. AC Milan To Sue Yusupha Yaffa Over Age Falsification

AC Milan To Sue Yusupha Yaffa Over Age Falsification

Gazetta dello Sport claims Yusupha Yaffa lied to Italian authorities upon arriving from Gambia in 2009, insisting he was 13 years old when he was actually 22.

AC Milan is taking former academy player Yusupha Yaffa to court following allegations he told the club he was nine years younger than his real age.

Yaffa arrived in Italy in 2009 seeking asylum from Gambia and, according to Gazetta dello Sport, lost his identity papers and claimed his age was 13, when his actual age is said to have been 22.

A move to the Milan academy followed in 2013 when he was presumed to be 16 years old with a birthday of December 31, 1997, but an investigation puts his real birthday as February 14, 1987.

Yaffa, who is now on loan at German outfit MSV Duisburg from Eintracht Frankfurt, spent three years with Milan and became a regular in their Under-19 set-up before leaving 12 months ago.

The striker faces fraud charges in Italy after reportedly raising suspicions over his age with comments made on Facebook regarding his schooling and multiple queries from former school friends.
