An 18-month-old baby has tested negative for the Ebola disease, after being suspected to have contracted the virus.
The infant was recently quarantined at the treatment centre after manifesting symptoms of the disease.
This was disclosed by the Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, 10 September.
He also added that a subsequent test will be carried out on the baby on Thursday, 11 September, to completely clear him of the infection.
Parker also revealed that the wife of late Port Harcourt Doctor Iyke Enemuo, who is being treated at the National Treatment Centre in Lagos, was making a rapid recovery and is expected to be discharged soon.
