UNIBEN STUDENT SHOT IN THE HEAD AT SCHOOL SPORTS COMPLEX

A 200level Mathematics student of the
University of Benin known as Snazzy was shot
in the head by an unknown gun man around
2pm yesterday afternoon during the
biometrics registration held in the university
sports complex.

Eye witnesses say the gunman dropped the
gun and disappeared into the crowd before
he could be identified. Snazzy was
immediately rushed to the University of Benin
Teaching Hospital and was confirmed dead
an hours later...

May his gentle soul rest in peace...

RIP: Highlife Legend, Fatai Rolling Dollars Is Dead At 85

Wow!!! We just heard now that one of the Godfather's of Juju music, Pa Fatai Olayiwola Olagunju aka Rolling Dollar is reportedly dead. The octogenarian who was said to have been in coma after a protracted illness, was said to have debunked the coma claim.

Now the news in town is that, the old artiste who trained Ebenezer Obey in his heydays has passed on.

May his soul rest in peace!!!

Composer Of Nigeria's National Anthem, Benedict Odiase Is Dead

The composer of Nigeria's National Anthem, Pa Benedict Odiase has passed on.

Mr Odiase died last night in his sleep. He composed Arise O Compatriots” in May 1978.

Pa Odiase retired in 1992 as a Deputy Commissioner of Police after being the Director of Music with the Nigeria Police Band.

8 Ways To Make Your Phone's Battery Last Longer

One big difference between the ‘torchlight’ feature phones and what we call ‘smartphones’ like BlackBerry, iphone and Samsung S3 and other such brands is battery life.

There’s no way smartphones can match up with feature phones in this regard. Even the best batteries don’t have enough reserves to power big, bright screens, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G.

However, by making a few changes to your phone’s settings (and maybe even changing the way you use your phone a little) you should be able to extend its battery life quite well. The aim here is to show you how to reduce your handset’s power consumption without making it unusable.

Here are eight ways you can boost your smartphone’s battery life.

Dim the screen brightness
Screen brightness is about the highest consumer of battery power. Most phones include an auto-brightness feature that automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness to suit ambient lighting levels. This mode uses less power than constantly running your screen at full brightness would. However, you can get far better results by reducing the brightness (under Settings/Options menu) to the lowest level you can tolerate Even if you do nothing else we suggest, following this one tip will extend the life of your battery dramatically.

Shorten the screen timeout
Screen time out is the amount of time the screen stays lit after receiving input. Under your phone’s display settings menu, you should find an option labeled ‘Screen Timeout’ or Backlight for BlackBerrys. Every second counts here, so set your timeout to the shortest available time. On most Android phones, the minimum is 15 seconds. If your screen timeout is currently set to two minutes, consider reducing that figure to 30 seconds or less. On a BlackBerry, the minimum you can set is 10 seconds.

Turn off Bluetooth
No matter how much you love using Bluetooth to transfer music or photos, once you are done, turn it off. Most phones ask for permission to switch on Bluetooth to send or receive a file, but will not turn it off automatically when done. By turning off the Bluetooth radio, you can add an hour or more to your phone’s battery life.

Turn off Wi-Fi
As with Bluetooth, your phone’s Wi-Fi radio is a serious battery drainer. While you will need to use your home or office Wi-Fi connection rather than 3G for internet access and other data services, there’s little point in leaving the Wi-Fi radio on when you’re out and about. Toggle it off when you go out the door, and turn it back on only when you plan to use data services within range of your Wi-Fi network. Look in the notifications area of you device to know if it’s on or not.

Don’t run apps in the background
Multitasking - the ability to run more than one application (app) at a time - is a powerful smartphone feature. It also burns a lot of energy, because every app you run uses a share of your phone’s processor cycles. By killing apps that you aren’t actually using, you can drastically reduce your CPU’s workload and cut down on its power consumption. For BlackBerry, press the Menu button and scroll to ‘Switch Application,’ a list of all running apps will show up. You can then select the ones not in use and close them. Sometimes, it’s worth closing all the apps and rebooting your phone from time to time as well.

Don’t use vibration only
Some people prefer to have their phone alert them to incoming calls by vibrating rather than playing a ringtone. Unfortunately, vibration uses much more power than playing a ringtone does. After all, a ringtone only has to make a tiny membrane in your phone’s speaker vibrate enough to produce sound. In contrast, the vibration motor rotates a small weight to make your whole phone shake. That process takes a lot more power. If you don’t want to be disturbed audibly, consider turning off all notifications and leave the phone in view so you can see when a new call is coming in. This approach is as courteous to your battery as it is to your friends and colleagues.

Switch from 3G to 2G
It is possible to switch Network Mode from 3G to 2G under Network and Connections Setting under Options menu for BlackBerry. Doing this can double battery power. The only implication is that download speeds are reduce when browsing. Everything else like calls, text messages and BBM, work just as fine under 2G setting.

Use Power-saving modes
Depending on your handset, you may find the manufacturer has provided power-saving features. Enabling this mode manages the phone’s various power-sapping features for you. It might, for example, prevent your apps from updating in the background, dim your screen, reduce the screen timeout setting, disable on-screen animations, and turn off vibration.

By default, this mode usually turns on when your battery level drops to 20 per cent, but you can set it to kick in at 30 per cent instead. And the sooner the phone switches to this power-saving mode, the longer its battery will last.

Imagine the extent some people go all in a bid to make "too much money" and oppress others. This is one of the reason why those who have made money legitimately are not respected at times as there is the temptation to lump all wealthy people as crooks, one way or the other.

This woman runs a popular restaurant where men and women troop in to eat, not know that they are eating away their destinies, in this Nigeria...

She is the owner of one of the most popular local restaurant (buka) in the Eleme area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. I hear the woman confessed last weekend to using spiritual means to entice customers, as well as take their “destinies.” True life story!

According to eye witnesses, the woman, said to be from Akwa Ibom state, suddenly ran mad while at her restaurant. She started acting bizarre, tore her clothes and started confessing in the presence of customers, her workers and passersby how she used diabolical means for the growth of her business.

According to a source, she said she mixes water used to bathe corpses with her food, as well as water from her privaté part and ménstruation blood. She said she did all these to attract customers whose “destinies” she used for the growth of her business and riches.

The news of her confession spread around town and many of those who have been going to her restaurant to enjoy themselves could not believe their ears. It was sad indeed! Some of her customers (including Okada men) and angry onlookers descended on her but she was rescued by Policemen.

Eating out is cheap but with stories like this one need to be careful.

REASON WHY BURNA BOY CAN'T PERFORM IN UK

Burna boy has a high demand in the UK and alot of people want to see him perform here and there is a lot of money for Burna Boy to make here.

He has been going to USA, Canada & Cyprus for shows but he has not been to the UK to perform unlike his fellow Nigerian artist P-square,Wizkid, D'Banj and other big Nigerian stars who have had many shows here in the UK.

CRAZY! Headmaster Rapes Primary School Girl Inside School

The Bayelsa State Police Command has
arraigned a 55-year-old headmaster of a
private nursery and primary school in Akaba
community, Yenagoa Local Government,
Bayelsa State, Mr. Akpolagha Agbugiye, for
defiling an eight-year-old pupil.
The headmaster, who was dragged before the
Chief Magistrateâ€™s Court 1 in Yenagoa, was
accused of inserting his finger into the private
parts of the pupil...
The prosecuting lawyer, Roselyn Doctor, a
police Inspector, told the court that the
incident happened on May 3. She said the
headmaster committed the offence at the
back of the school building.
She said the school boss asked the pupil to
touch the ground with her finger and raise her
leg after which he removed her pants and
inserted his finger into her private part.
She said, â€œThe posture he placed the girl was
supposed to be a form of punishment called
â€˜ pick a pin.â€™
â€œThe accused asked the classmate of the
victim to call her. When the two girls met him
at the back of the school building, he asked
the other girl to leave. The headmaster then
asked the pupil to 'pick pin', an order which
the girl obeyed. At this point he pulled the
girlâ€™s pant and inserted his fingers into her
private part.â€
The police prosecutor said the victim limped
home and reported the incident to her mother.
She said her mother later took her to the
Federal Medical Centre for examination,
adding that a doctor confirmed that the girl
had been defiled.
The police told the presiding Magistrate,
Patricia Edouyemiekumo, that the action was a
criminal offence punishable under section
146(2) of the Criminal Code, Law of Bayelsa
State, 2006.
When the charges were read to him, the
Headmaster pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was granted bail in the sum of N100,000
with two sureties residing in the state capital.
The case has adjourned till June 13 for trial.

The Married Woman Raped Inside Police Station

Mrs. Esse Isaiah Ozegbe, who was arrested on
February 26, 2013, following a quarrel with
her neighbour, was detained among men at
Abraka police station, where two boy raped
her in turn, and laughing, while the policemen
on duty kept quiet.
Consequently, the station cell guard has been
dismissed from the police and a Police
Inspector, Mrs. Erebi Akporunor, has been
demoted to the rank of sergeant. This is phase
one of the fall-out of the rape of Mrs. Esse
Isaiah Ozegbe inside the station....
The dismissal and demotion of the police
personnel were the outcome of an orderly
room trial carried out by the Assistant
Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5, of 11
policemen in connection with the saga.
Policemen on duty that fateful night paid deaf
ears to her cry for help, while the boys rape
her in turn.
The two boy, who raped Mrs. Ozegbe, are
currently standing trial at a Magistrate Court
in Abraka.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Ozegbe, through her lawyer,
Efe Ejomafuvwe, had instituted a suit at the
Federal High in Warri, Delta State. In the
suit, she is claiming the sum of N750 million
damages against the Nigeria Police Force.
The trial will commence on June 13, 2013.

Man Went To Church For Spiritual Help But End Up Stealing Church Offerings

A 39-year old man, Stephen Abiodun who went
to a Celestial Church of Christ, Egan parish,
Lagos to seek spiritual deliverance has ended
up in prison after he stole the church offering.
He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment
without an option of fine at Ejigbo
Magistratesâ€™ Court Lagos on a three-count
charge for felony, breaking and entering and
stealing...
He was jailed after he pleaded guilty before
the presiding Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka and
admitted that he broke a box containing the
church offering money and stole N190,000. He
also told the court he did so with two of his
friends now at large because they were
indebted and wanted to pay those debts.
The incident happened when 39-year old
Abiodun went to the church located at 24
Adisat Falae street, Egan to seek spiritual
deliverance for his predicament.
He attributed his dismissal from his job as a
result of spiritual attack and was introduced
to the church by his mom for deliverance and
prayers.
While he was in the church, he observed that
the church congregation were dropping money
in the offering box. After the church prayed
and delivered him, a few days later, he
contacted two of his friends and they went
and broke into the church broke the offering
box and carted away N190,000.
However, one of the church members who saw
them that night and recognized Abiodun
reported that he saw Abiodun with others in
the night at the church premises.
When he was arraigned in court, he confessed
and said that he incurred debts in a hotel
where they drank and they were thinking how
to off set the debts before he suggested to
his friends.
Abiodun said his friends bought the idea and
they went and broke into the church through
the window and went straight to the offering
box and broke it and took away the money. He
said they did not touch any other thing inside
the church except the money which he said
belong to God.

have Windows Vista or 7 installed on your

a flash drive of at least 4 GB in size, in
order to store all the necessary files.
Note: Before you start, plug in the USB
drive and backup any files you have stored
on the USB drive. The drive will be
formatted during this process and all files
on it will be deleted.
Tip: You will need a Windows Vista or
Windows 7 disc for these instructions to be

1. Open an elevated Windows command line
window by clicking Start, typing in cmd in
the search text field, then pressing CTRL +
Shift + Enter on your keyboard (at the
same time). You can also access this by

the Command Prompt menu item and select
Run as Administrator.
2. At the command prompt, type cd c:

5. You will now need your Windows Vista or
7 Installation DVD. Put the DVD in your
computer's DVD drive. Open up My
Computer and note which drive letter is
assigned to your DVD Drive and your USB
flash drive.
6. Go back to the command prompt window
and type in D: CD BOOT (substitute your
DVD drive letter for "D:" if necessary)
and press Enter. Type CD BOOT again and
press Enter. Lastly, type BOOTSECT.EXE /
NT60 H: (substitute your USB flash drive
letter for "H:" if necessary) and press
Enter.
7. The last step is to copy the entire
contents of the Windows DVD to your USB
flash drive.
Your USB flash drive is now set up to be a
bootable USB drive for Windows Vista or 7.
